Brian McInerney, Hydrologist with the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, confirms in today’s briefing the weather has been quite a bit cooler and wetter from mid-April to mid-May than in typical years. This has resulted in a larger snow pack (over 230% of normal in some areas) and has delayed the snow melt. The longer the cooler than normal weather delays the melt, the more potential for flooding when it does warm up.

The county has continued to have sandbag-filling parties and will continue preparations to be ready if the floods do occur.
