Earthquake Exercise, March 13, 2010

CERT Drill, Saturday, March 13, 2010 @ 9am

A representative from Utah Task Force One, an elite disaster-response team, will be coordinating our March drill. We will practice our earthquake scenario so prepare to self-activate at 9:00 a.m. Our flexibility in completing our own tasks while responding to assignments will be challenged in this drill.

Please communicate this to members of your team. If you haven't already registered as a volunteer with us, please take a moment and register. Registrations from September's exercise are still on file.

Incident Command System (ICS) Training

All AREA LEADERS, TEAM LEADERS and BLOCK LEADERS are asked to attend two ICS training sessions:

Saturday, January 23rd, 12:30pm – 2:00pm @ Herriman City Hall
Subject: Proper emergency-oriented leadership techniques (ICS) Q&A

Saturday, February 27th, 12:30pm – 2:00pm @ Herriman City Hall
Subject: Preparation “table top” for the March Drill.

Cost: FREE
No registration necessary.

CERT 2010

Herriman City has scheduled three Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Classes:

Wed.’s, 6:30pm-9:30pm Jan 13, 20, 27, Feb 3, 10, 17 and final scenario on Sat. Feb 20 (morning) all @ Herriman City Hall

Wed.’s, 6:30pm-9:30pm on Feb 24, Mar 3, 10, 17, 31, Apr 7 and final scenario on Sat. Apr 10 (morning) all @ Herriman City Hall

Sat.’s May 1 and 8, 8am-5pm and final scenario on Sat. May 15 8am-1pm all @ Herriman City Hall

Be Ready Herriman Org Changes

Great News! Damon Aguirre has joined the Be Ready Herriman city emergency operations after showing great expertise as an Area Leader in the Rose Canyon area. As volunteers, Damon and Coralee are liaisons with the city and other organizations and will divide the responsibilities as follows:

Pedal Palooza

Herriman City is sponsoring the third annual “Pedal Palooza” bicycle race, children’s bike rodeo, safety and helmet event. They need community volunteers to assist with this event and have asked CERT to assist with these needs. If you can help, please sign up ONLINE and choose your assignment. Thank you for your help!

Four Announcements

Dear Emergency Volunteers:

Thanks again for a successful September drill. As we move into the fall and winter seasons, we'd like you to keep the following opportunities in mind:

1) We will have a DAYTIME Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) class in Herriman starting Tuesday, October 27th from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon, continuing for six weeks. The location will be the LDS Stake Center located at 5600 W 13680 S. Please consider taking this class if you're not CERT trained or pass this information to your neighbors. This is a great class for community members who may be retired, have children in school during the day or otherwise have a free morning. REGISTER ONLINE. There are other classes available if this doesn't work with your schedule but this will likely be the only Herriman class until next year.

2) This Saturday, October 10th, will be a Ham Radio Go-Kit training at 10:00 a.m. at the Herriman City Hall. If you are a Ham Radio operator or if you have an interested in Ham Radios and emergency communications, please join us.

3) Next Saturday, October 17th, will be the first new Ham Radio operator class. Again, if you have an interested in Ham Radios and emergency communications, please join us. See this link for more information and register by email to KE7MDG@arrl.net or by phone: 801.446.0241.

4) We're excited to announce the date of the next semi-annual emergency drill as Saturday, March 13th, 2010. Please save the date!
